1. What exactly is this?

The Family Emergency File is a structured spreadsheet with 13 tabs that organises everything your family would need if something happened to you — personal records, bank accounts, insurance policies, legal documents, medical details, digital accounts, and your final wishes. It comes with a Dashboard that tracks your completion progress across every section. Opens in Excel or Google Sheets. No special software required.

2. How does it actually work?

Download the file immediately after purchase. Open it on any computer — it works in Excel and Google Sheets. Fill in the yellow input cells at your own pace: smart dropdown menus guide the choices that have set options, and cells turn green as you complete them. When you're done, save it locally and tell your trusted person where to find it.

3. Can I just print it out?

Yes — every tab is printable. The Emergency Protocol and Safety System Checklist (included in the Core and Full systems) are specifically designed to be printed, signed, and kept alongside your physical documents. Many people print the Protocol and give it directly to their executor or next of kin.

4. Who can see my information?

Nobody but you. The file is saved locally on your device — your laptop, desktop, or a USB drive. We have no access to it at any point. Nothing is transmitted, uploaded, or backed up by us. What you write stays entirely in your hands.

5. Is it suitable for someone who isn't good with technology?

Yes — intentionally so. The input cells are colour-coded yellow. Dropdown menus handle the choices with set options. Cells turn green as you fill them in, making it easy to see your progress. If you've ever typed into a table, you can fill in this file. We've had customers in their eighties complete it without any help.

6. What languages and currencies are supported?

The file comes in 6 fully translated languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese — each a separate file, not a machine translation. The Dashboard also includes a currency selector covering USD, EUR, AUD, CAD, GBP, and CHF, so the file feels native wherever you are.

7. Is this a legal document or a substitute for a will?

No — and it's important to be clear about that. The Family Emergency File is a personal organisation and planning tool. It is not a legal document and does not replace a will, trust, power of attorney, or any other professionally prepared instrument. For those, we strongly recommend working with a qualified solicitor or attorney.
